Micro-Hydro Power
Operates efficiently on heads of 10 to 600 feet
Operates efficiently on flows of 10 to 250 GPM
The typical American household consumes about 12 thousand watt hours (12Kwh) per day (not including electricity to power heating loads), or about 500 watts on average (though this can be reduced to about 300 watts or even less, though careful conservation measures and by eliminating waste). There are times, however, when as much as 10,000 watts are needed, as when a refrigerator or well pump is started. An A.C. system cannot store energy and must be sized to meet this peak demand, requiring up to 40 times as much water as a similarly useful D.C. system. Smaller size saves money. Micro-hydro systems are matched to the average demand and extracts power the way that nature provides it, slow and steady.
How It Works: The MICRO-HYDRO system is an efficient, durable battery charging turbine. It is especially well suited to produce usable power from springs and creeks that are too small to sustain the same level of useful power from a conventional A.C. generating system. Water is collected upstream from the hydro and piped downstream to where the turbine is located. As a rule the greater the head, (the difference in elevation between the collection point and the turbine is called the head, measured in Feet) the better. Because D.C. power can be stored in batteries, these small systems operate 24 hours a day collecting energy, a little at a time, to be delivered "on demand" from the batteries as the need dictates.
Generating Power From Small Mountain Streams
HYDRO INDUCTION POWER, producing quality hydro systems for over 20 years.
A2E now offers a new LOW VOLTAGE (12V/24V/48V/96V), brushless unit for direct battery charging or with use with PP trackers or power supplies.
These are ideal for people with battery-based alternative energy systems.
We can upgrade existing Harris or home grown hydros that use car alternators.
Specifications
This unit uses the a bronze pelton runner and arris housing. All hardware is stainless steel, and nozzle holders and nozzles are brass. The alternator is a brushless permanent magnet, 12 pole, with 2 x 6203 sealed bearings.
We offer 4 models that can generate 12V, 24V, 48V, or 96V with 1 - 4 nozzles and will work on pressures from 20psi to 180psi.
The alternating current from the alternator goes through the water-cooled rectifier to produce DC for your battery. The unit comes complete with an induction ampmeter and 1'' flexible hose for easy hook-up. We recommend fusing the wire near the batteries.
We warranty the unit for 2 years.
Bearings should be changed every 4 - 10 years, depending on use.
